KitAid campaign launching again
22nd June 2015
Airdrieonians Supporters' Trust are delighted to announce the return of our very successful Football Kit Amnesty, in conjunction with KitAid.
Last year's campaign saw almost 5000 pieces of kit being donated from the Airdrie area, but also with donations being received from all over the UK. This figure surpassed our expectations, and it was an amazing figure.
Two things happened from this. Over 400 season tickets were distributed to local children to come along to the Airdrie games. They enjoyed the new family friendly atmosphere that we are trying to achieve at the games, with every home match seeing some form of pre match activity, be it football training, arts and crafts, or enjoying a game of table football in the Diamonds den. We hoped it would give children and families a more affordable route to getting involved in their local club, and it certainly seemed to be the case with the families coming along.
The second benefactors, were of course the many thousands of adults and children across the globe, who received the kit donations. This ranged from a homeless projects in Romania, to Mongolia, and Zambia. Pictures have been flooding in over the last 6 months of the strips reaching their destinations, and seeing the happiness and hope that something as simple as a football strip can bring has been a joy to behold.
We are therefore delighted to announce the 2nd campaign, which will be launched on June 27th at Airdrie Fair Day, and running throughout July. We would be delighted if you could share the poster, make it your avatar, spread to work, church, school, local shop etc, to get the word out. It's such an easy yet massively rewarding project, that benefits near and wide.
We will be updating the Supporters' Trust facebook page daily over the next few months, but ask that everyone helps and gets involved as much as possible, in the same vein that you did last year.
