Airdrieonians vs FC Edmonton preview

16th March 2016

Strike partners Jim Lister and Bryan Prunty lapped up every second of their tribute night in the 1-2 friendly defeat from FC Edmonton.

The players’ families were guests in the Boardroom for the evening with their children helping to lead the teams out.

Diamonds skipper for the evening Jamie Bain presented both players with no.9 shirts as souvenirs of the occasion and club photographer Robert Dalzell also produced two prints of the iconic Lister and Prunty picture as gifts.

Jim, now 35, is being wrapped in cotton wool for the run-in but played 15 minutes before making way for 16-year-old future star Scott Thomson.

And he said: “It was great to have my family here and it was a memorable evening.

“I’d like to thank the Club for the gesture and all the fans who turned out.”

It was also a special evening for his 33-year-old partner Prunts who was impressed by the Under-20s players who did themselves proud on their debuts.

Bryan smiled: “When Scott came on for Jimmy I said to him: ‘What age are you again young man?’

“I’ve got to admit when he said 16 it did make me stop and smile for a moment!

“The Club, though, can only be encouraged by how well the youngsters played and passed the ball. They were great against a really strong Edmonton side.”
