Diamonds mean business

9th May 2016

Airdrieonians FC is today delighted to announce two major new signings OFF the park as the Club gears up for a return to full-time football next season.

The Diamonds finished with a flourish in League One, narrowly missing out on a play-off spot after three wins on the spin to close the campaign.

Frustration and disappointment, though, has only fuelled the determination of the ambitious Club and that is illustrated in the appointments of Chief Marketing Officer Anna Kozlowska and Commercial Manager Dougy Allsop.

Award-winning marketing expert Anna arrived in Britain from Poland aged 20 and within six years had launched her own successful company Myway Enterprises which quickly became the talk of the logistics industry.

Anna, who was named Rising Star of the Year in the transport and logistics industry’s most prestigious awards, will now look at improving the reach of the Airdrieonians brand and professionalising our commercial operations.

And she told airdriefc.com: “I am delighted to be joining the club at such exciting times on a journey to make the new ambitious vision a reality.

“Having spent the last couple of weeks getting to know the Board, the Supporters Trust and the team behind the scenes, I strongly believe next season will be the season for Airdrieonians.

“The club on and off the pitch is not short of passion or determination to succeed.

“With a strong backing of our hopefully dynamically growing supporters’ base and performances on the pitch like the one at Ayr United on the final day of the season, we can make it all happen. It is time to make our club the heartbeat of our town.”

For lifelong Diamonds fan Dougy, an influential member of the hard-working Airdrieonians’ Supporters Trust, his new role is a dream come true.

Dougy lives and breathes the Club, now he will use all his contacts and energy to help develop key commercial contacts and create new business relationships within the Diamonds’ family.

And he said: “I have worked as a buyer for over two decades with some massive UK retailers but nothing has given me greater satisfaction than raising funds for the Trust and Club over the last three years.

“I am an incredibly proud Airdrieonian both in terms of the football team, which I have supported since my first match in 1982, and of my hometown where I live in with my family.

“I firmly believe that a successful and well-managed Club goes hand in hand with a vibrant town and community.

“I see building two-way partnerships with the local businesses as a massive key to achieving this.

“As clichéd as it may sound, this really is a dream come true for me.

“Whilst it may not be the centre forward position I hoped it would be 25 years ago (ish!), nothing will make me prouder than representing our amazing football club.”

Airdrieonians chairman Tom Wotherspoon has come through a rollercoaster first season at the helm of the club he took control of last summer.

The move to full-time football, the switch to the state of the art training base at Ravenscraig, the rejuvenation of the Club’s Academy and community programmes have all come in the first 12 months of Tom’s stewardship.

Now the M&H Logistics supremo, whose own business was rebranded under Anna’s guidance, is putting in place the next building blocks for a more secure future for the Club off the park.

And the chairman told airdriefc.com: “We have had a season now to review how the Club is run and made some strides forward in that time in terms of putting our footprint back into the community.

“This is the next step, to have a solid foundation in place to help us both connect with the supporters and together help put the Club on a more sound financial footing.

“Anna is a market leader in her field and Dougy has the critical local knowledge we need from his tireless work with the Supporters’ Trust. I look forward to seeing the impact they can have.”
