Strikers bid farewell to Diamonds faithful

7th May 2016

Fans’ favourites Bryan Prunty and Jimmy Lister have said a heartfelt thank you to the Diamonds faithful as they move on from Airdrieonians FC.

As the Club switches to full-time football the striking double act wanted to say their farewells on airdriefc.com

Bryan, who has always worked tirelessly for the Club both on and off the park through his great relationship with the Supporters’ Trust, said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to wish the Club all the best for the future.

“Naturally, I am disappointed not to be given the chance to stay at the club but I would like to give a special mention to the fantastic fans who have given me such tremendous support through my two spells at the club.

“I want to wish them all the success in the world.”

The players were honoured by the club earlier this season with their tribute game against Canadian NASL side Edmonton FC.

And Jimmy said: “I want to say thanks to everyone at the Club for my time at Airdrieonians, the Club and the memories I have made here will always be close to my heart.

“My family were welcomed into this prestigious club with open arms, obviously because of my calibre and abilities!

“Seriously, I have played some of my best football here and this was mostly down to the fans’ contribution to inspiring me.

“We had some great games, we played live on television, we played at a sell-out Ibrox, we gave Rangers a terrific game at home.

“I've had three managers, six strike partners and Bryan Prunty since joining Airdrieonians and what a time we have had.

“I’d like to wish the Diamonds all the best for the future and hope the glory days come back through the new regime.

“Most of all I’d like to wish the manager a full recovery as I'm sure everyone else does, good luck to Airdrieonians FC.”
