Airdrieonians FC are delighted to announce highly-respected football figure Alan Upton as our new Academy Director.

Alan has been working hard behind the scenes of our youth set-up in his previous role as Academy Administrator and putting in place a rigid structure to ensure we progress on the right lines with our quest to become an SFA Silver Academy over the next two and a half years.

​

Now the former Clyde youth supremo, who had been working as a scout with Rangers before he switched to the Diamonds, moves onto his next challenge.

Chief Executive Iain King said: “Alan’s work inside the Academy since we arrived the Club has been critical in making sure we meet all the SFA criteria as we develop the youth set-up moving forward.

​

“As Head Coach, Eddie Wolecki Black will still play a pivotal role in coach education and dictating the football philosophy to set the standards for our young players.

​

“Alan will now have increased responsibility on driving the Academy forward alongside Eddie and he has already made huge strides with that both in coach education and the re-establishing of our scouting network.”
