Diamonds land Well prospects

6th January 2016

Airdrieonians FC have today clinched the signings of highly-rated Motherwell prospects David Ferguson and Dylan Mackin until the end of the season.

The loan deals were completed this afternoon and the players will go through their first training session with the Diamonds squad tomorrow night.

David, 19, already has six Premiership games for Well under his belt and has been excelling on loan at League Two leaders Annan Athletic this season.

And Diamonds Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said: “It was imperative that we brought in a defensive player to strengthen us because with David van Zanten injured we now have only four recognised first-team defenders.

“David has great experience under his belt at Annan this season and that will hold him in great stead for the challenges in League One.”

At the age of 18 Dylan is a feared striker in the Under-20s Development League and now gets the chance to prove his scoring menace at a higher level.

Eddie revealed:  “Dylan first came to my attention when I saw him score a hat-trick for the Well 20s against Dundee United at the Excelsior.

“He is a finisher who will complement the strikers we already have in the squad.”
