Scott Fraser says confidence is high in the Airdrie ranks as they gear up for Saturday's visit to Dunfermline.

The on-loan Dundee United midfielder recently extended his stay at New Broomfield to the end of this season, and he's pleased to be part of the Diamonds' push for a promotion play-off. 

​

"I'm very happy to have extended my loan. I'm learning a lot from the experienced players in the team, and I've had a great reaction from the supporters."

Fraser has played an important part in an unbeaten run through December which has seen manager Gary Bollan pick up the SPFL Manager of the Month award. 

​

The 19-year-old feels the recognition is warranted. 

​

"I think when you see the fixtures we've had last month, to come through them unbeaten was great for us. 

​

"The gaffer deserved his award." 

​

January kicked off in a similar vein with a win over Morton at Cappielow, but Peterhead spoiled the party by beating the Diamonds 3-1 at home last Saturday. 

​

When asked what went wrong, Fraser is stumped. 

​

"To be honest I'm not sure, we just never got our normal game going at all. 

​

"We were confident going into the game after our recent results". 

​

So has that confidence taken a hit? Not a chance, according to Scott. 

​

"I think Dunfermline should be favourites every game they play in this league - but we beat them a couple of weeks ago so we are confident." 

​

Luca Gasparotto remains absent for the trip to Fife, and fellow defender David Proctor looks set to miss the remainder of the season on medical advice. 

 

Dunfermline have released top scorer Gozie Ugwu, who bagged a couple the last time the sides met at East End Park, but have brought in freed Morton striker Andy Barrowman.

New manager John Potter has been busy reshaping the squad he inherited from outgoing boss Jim Jeffries, also signing Jim Paterson and Kyle McAusland from Forfar and Rangers respectively.
