New signing Ross Docherty is looking forward to tomorrow's showdown with Dunfermline Athletic, and says the Diamonds shouldn't be taken lightly.

The midfielder joined the Club ahead of last week's trip to Brechin, and he explained how former team-mate Iain Russell helped him secure his move to New Broomfield. 

​

Queen of the South striker Russell is the grandson of Airdrie's honorary President Ian McMillan, and he worked with both Docherty and boss Gary Bollan at Livingston. 

​

"Iain actually contacted the manager and asked if I could come in to train. After a few weeks training and a youth game, I signed". 

​

Docherty was drafted into the starting line-up against Stranraer, playing as a trialist, and continued in the defensive midfield role at Glebe Park last Saturday. 

​

His first impressions of his new team-mates are good. 

​

"It's a team full of good players, with so many different options. We can play football but also have the option of going more direct. 

​

"We're not easy to beat, and I think if we can put a few results together we can definitely climb up the table". 

​

Title-favourites Dunfermline Athletic visit New Broomfield tomorrow, but Docherty is in positive mood. 

​

"We know it won't be easy, but they'll know they won't come here for an easy game either.

 

"We've played well the last couple of game but just haven't got the results, so hopefully we can get one tomorrow". 

​

Asked about his personal aims for the rest of the season, Ross is glad to be given the opportunity to feature. 

​

"I'm just happy to be back playing, so the aim is to get as many games as possible and maybe even grab a goal or two". 

​

Tomorrow we also welcome Sheffield United fans Rob and Josh Middleton, who are visiting every Scottish stadium! Rob told us "We started this journey in 2010 at Stair Park and Airdrie is the 28th stop. Looking forward to visiting the Excelsior stadium tomorrow.
