Manager's View - Tactics

29th June 2013

Jimmy Boyle has vowed to be more offensive in the Irn-Bru Second Division next season.

The Airdrieonians manager is looking forward to the 2013-14 campaign which begins in late July.

The Diamonds find themselves in the same division as Rangers – and also have Dunfermline Athletic for company.

But, according to the gaffer, Airdrie will have no fear and are aiming to make a positive impact.

He said: "We didn't pass the ball anywhere as well as we should have last season and that is something we're going to work on.

"We didn't create as many chances and so we're going to be more offensive.

"I don't know what shape we're going with just yet. I want to see what players we can bring in.

"But I don't want us to just be a team that plays 4-4-2. I want to work at different shapes but being more offensive than defensive.

The boss added: "We've got Rangers next season at home twice and two trips to Ibrox where the players have a chance to play and that's fantastic.

"We want the players to be physically fit and strong for the season ahead."
