Dunfermline Athletic v Airdrieonians preview

20th September 2013

Airdrie head to Fife tomorrow looking to build on their first league win of the season.

Dunfermline's East End Park was a happy hunting ground for the Diamonds last season, with two victories over the Pars proving unexpected highlights in an otherwise bleak campaign.

With a last-gasp Gregor Buchanan winner providing last week's 3-2 defeat of Stranraer, Jimmy Boyle is looking for his men to build momentum.

“We will be going up there to have a go and I think there’s more to come from us.

“It will be a tough game but we’ve shown that we can go to places like Dunfermline and do well. It would be great to get another win.”

Jim Jefferies' Pars team have made a solid start to their league campaign despite a pre-season filled with financial turmoil and doubts over the very existence of the Fife club.

They currently sit second in the league table behind Rangers with a youthful squad made necessary by swinging cutbacks.

Ex-Diamonds Ryan Wallace and Jordan Moore may feature against their former club, but defender Buchanan says that Airdrie are concentrating on their own form.

"We’re not many games into the season but there is a bit of relief.

"Getting that first league win of the season settles things down a bit for us and relieves some of the pressure.”

Saturday's match referee is Mat Northcroft.
