Gary Bollan has been given a vote of confidence ahead of his first league match in charge of Airdrieonians.

Goalkeeper Tony Bullock, who played for the Diamonds in last Friday night's Scottish Cup defeat at Rangers, believes his gaffer and friend will steer the club away from the bottom of the table.

The 41-year-old signed an emergency loan deal from Arbroath which allowed him to turn out in the 3-0 reverse at Ibrox. Airdrie head back to Glasgow's south side on SPFL League One duty tomorrow.

And Bullock feels the former Livingston boss is the right man for the tough job that lies ahead at New Broomfield.

​

He said: "I've known him for more than ten years. We live five minutes from each other and I worked with him at Livingston. It's great to see him back in the game.

​

"He has a great record at this level and it's amazing that nobody else has taken a chance on him.

​

"But Airdrie have taken that chance and I think that's a great decision from the board of directors at this club.

​

"They are getting a passionate manager and someone who is honest and committed. He has a lot of desire and if he could be at the club 24/7, he would be.

​

"He'll turn the club around. I don't have any doubts about that."

​

Airdrie are missing defenders Chris O'Neil and Grant Evans for the trip to Glasgow with question marks over the goalkeeping situation.

​

On-loan Rangers keeper Scott Gallacher has a knee injury but was ineligible anyway.

Bullock's loan is to the end of the month but wasn't ratified last week by the SPFL so Andrew Duncan is on stand-by.

Bollan was proud of his players at Ibrox and added: "We kept our shape and were excellent defensively. But where we are looking to improve is offensively and being more of a threat to Rangers."
