David Sinclair admits he's delighted to have notched up his first goal for Airdrieonians.

The 23-year-old was on target in Saturday's 4-3 triumph over Stenhousemuir in the first round of the League Cup.

Sinclair also set up a goal for Mick O'Byrne and provided the free-kick from which Willie McLaren struck in the 2-1 win at home to Hamilton Accies in the first round of the Ramsdens Challenge Cup.

"I'm pleased with how I've done," the former Ayr United midfielder said. "It's always good to get on the scoresheet and help the team out.

"I got there [to Lewis Coult's cross] and the ball was bouncing about midriff high. I was in two minds about how to hit it so I went with the side of my foot and it's gone in.

"It's important to hit the target in a situation like that and I managed to get a lot of power behind it. Thankfully it's gone in.

"It was important we got the next goal given we were 2-0 down. Had they got the third goal, the game would have been dead.

"But in the second half, I thought we were comfortable. It's great to get through to the next round and get another win."
