Manager Gary Bollan says a seven-game unbeaten run has turned up the heat on Airdrieonians' relegation rivals.

The Diamonds hoisted themselves out of the League One drop zone for the first time since October with a 3-0 win at home to Ayr United last Saturday.

​

Due to Rangers' Scottish Cup quarter-final tie with Albion Rovers, Bollan's men are off this weekend and will instead travel to Ibrox on Wednesday, March 12.

​

And the gaffer declared himself satisfied with the team's turnaround in the last two months with the 3-0 defeat at Ayr in January the only blot on their copybook.

"We're going into a wee break with a bit of momentum and that puts a bit of pressure on the teams around us at the bottom of the table," Bollan said.

​

"We're on a good run and long may that continue. I can't fault the effort of the lads.

​

"Apart from that blip at Somerset Park I'm delighted with how we're doing and the fact we're moving forward."

Meanwhile, midfielder Liam Watt admitted he's just pleased to be getting a game after netting the second goal of his career in the demolition of nine-man Ayr.

​

The 20-year-old said: "I was played on the left side of midfield by the previous manager, Jimmy Boyle, so I know a wee bit about what's expected of me in that role. I'm happy to be playing.

​

"I feel fitter and stronger during games. The manager has really made a difference. It's excellent to be out of the relegation zone. If we keep winning we can keep climbing the league."
