Mick, welcome to Airdrie, we know from experience you played with Albion Rovers but fill us in regarding your football career? 
I actually started out as a youth with Dundee United before joining Dumbarton. Livingston followed and three spells at Albion Rovers before joining Airdrieonians.

So what success did you enjoy with the previous clubs?
I have done reasonably well. When I was at Dumbarton we won the Third Division. At Livingston we won the Second Division. And finally at Albion Rovers we won the 2011/12 Second Division play offs to keep them in the Division.

How did signing for the Diamonds come about? 
At the end of last season I Ieft Rovers, it was probably the right time to move on and have a fresh start. I had a previous injury which had gone when I received a phone call from the manager inviting me to join the club for preseason. He knew about my injury but took that into consideration. Things went well and that led to me signing.

You had experience of the Lanarkshire derby in your time at Albion Rovers against the Diamonds what did you think of them?
I played in a few and we lost quite a few, I also played in the 7-2 win and scored a couple of goals. I hadn’t experienced derby matches at previous clubs so the atmosphere was something I really enjoyed and scoring as well was really great.

And of that match you came up against an old team mate from that Rovers side against Stenhousemuir, is he a tough opponent?
Big John Gemmell is really good player at what he does, a great target man and someone who will score goals but we tried not to give him too many chances.

And talking of Stenhousemuir, you scored an important goal, when we turned the game around what do you remember about it?
I don’t score too many so you don’t forget them when they come along. Defenders take it personally when you lose goals and we could have done better in that game before our comeback. I remember the ball breaking to me and I hit it well and it good to see it hit the back of the net.

This is a tough league, so taking Rangers as favourites is it possible that any one from nine could make the play-offs?      
The league is probably one of the most competitive there is and with lots of big clubs in the division but we have to look up not down as we want to be up there at the top end.
