Raith Rovers v Airdrie preview

13th November 2012

A home tie against Highland League outfit Deveronvale awaits the winners of tonight's William Hill Scottish Cup third round replay between Raith Rovers and Airdrie.

The Diamonds travel to Kirkcaldy for a rematch with Rovers following the sides' 2-2 draw at New Broomfield ten days ago.

Greig Spence was the Raith hero that day, rescuing the tie with an injury-time equaliser after Airdrie had come from behind to lead 2-1, Gavin Griffin and a Jason Thomson own goal overhauling Simon Mensing's opener.

Both sides make enforced changes from their weekend exploits.

Airdrie, who lost 3-1 to Livingston on Saturday, will be without Cameron MacDonald, who only lasted for 35 minutes of his comeback before his hamstring injury flared up again.

Jamie Bain and Michael Hart are expected to return to the squad after being rested by manager Jimmy Boyle, a gamble which failed to pay off.

"I was mindful of having two games in quick succession and changed a team that had battled for a win and a draw for the Livingston game and did not get what I wanted from that game", said the gaffer.

"Our defending from set pieces and our passing overall was poor and we need better if we are to get a win at Stark's Park."

The home side are without striker Brian Graham, red-carded for use of an elbow in the New Broomfield clash. Midfielder David Smith, on loan from SPL side Hearts, is away on Scotland U21 duty, although goalkeeper David McGurn returns from an injury lay-off.

Raith manager Grant Murray will be looking to continue his side's impressive home form, which includes a 2-0 win over the Diamonds back in September.

Stephen Finnie continues as match referee.
