Airdrie v Dunfermline Athletic preview

8th March 2013

Airdrie have agreed a deal to keep on-loan Motherwell midfielder Steven Hetherington at the club until the end of the season.

The move now means the Diamonds have three SPL loanees for the rest of the campaign. Celtic's Robbie Thomson and Dundee United's Jordan Moore make up the trio.

All three are almost certainly going to be involved in this weekend's match with Dunfermline Athletic at New Broomfield.

Boss Jimmy Boyle said: "We like Steven. He is a good player who can play anywhere. It's good that he's here to the end of the season."

In terms of team news, midfielder Sean Lynch is suspended following his red card in the disappointing 4-1 defeat to Livingston last Saturday.

A foot injury has sidelined left-back Marc Warren with Gavin Griffin and Paul Di Giacomo also injured but centre-back David Lilley could return.

The manager added: "We know we haven't done enough this season and our confidence is a little bit low.

"Saturday is a big one and we're looking for the three points. I just want the players to believe in themselves. I still believe and we will keep pushing away."

Airdrie have lost five of their last six games but Dunfermline don't have their troubles to seek as they try and overcome massive financial problems.

Boyle has sympathy for the Pars' plight and said: "It's sad to see. I know Jim Jefferies [Dunfermline manager] and a lot of the players really well but we've got to focus on ourselves."
