Airdrie will be looking to improve on their poor form at New Broomfield when Morton come calling on Saturday.

The Diamonds have lost seven of their 11 Irn-Bru First Division matches at the stadium so far this season.

That has contributed to Airdrie falling to the bottom of the table, on goal difference, with just under half of the campaign remaining.

Boss Jimmy Boyle knows time will soon start to run out for his side but is wary of a determined Ton keen on making up for their 5-1 Scottish Cup loss at Dundee.

​

He said: "I went to the game and I felt Dundee thoroughly deserved their victory.

​

"Morton did OK for about 40 minutes but Dundee were the better team and finished the game strongly.

​

"This will be a tough game for us and I know Morton's manager, Allan Moore, will not be happy with the result.

​

"But we've 14 games left and we have to start winning matches if we are going to get out of this position."

​

On Thursday night, Airdrie completed the signing of Motherwell midfielder Steven Hetherington on a month's loan and he could make his debut against Ton on what will be his 20th birthday.

​

Released Hamilton Accies forward Jordan Kirkpatrick has trained with the squad again and Boyle is interested in acquiring his services to the end of the season.

​

The Diamonds look set to welcome back defender David Lilley and midfielder Sean Lynch for the visit of the league leaders.

​

But Gavin Griffin (ankle/calf) is injured again and joins long-term absentee Alan Cook in the treatment room.

​

The manager confirmed that he was working hard on trying to bring in one more player on loan from an SPL club.

​

However, another move for Kilmarnock midfielder Ross Davidson, who spent a month at New Broomfield, has been shelved for the time being.
