2012/13 home kit unveiled

7th August 2012

May 1st saw the tenth anniversary of Airdrieonians' demise, but only ten years before that the team were hitting unprecented heights. In tribute to the twentieth anniversary of that success we can now reveal our 2012/13 home kit - which pays homage to the Diamonds "Class of 92"...

Playing in the top flight of Scottish football under manager Alex MacDonald, and with a squad which included the current management team of Jimmy Boyle and Alan Lawrence, Airdrieonians battled their way to the Scottish Cup final where they faced Rangers at Hampden Park. Unfortunately the result went Rangers' way that day, but the Ibrox club's league success meant that the Diamonds qualified for the European Cup Winners Cup, where they lost narrowly to Sparta Prague over two legs.

The kit worn by the Airdrie team on these prestigious occasions was very distinctive, with a distressed grey diamond pattern on the familiar white shirt with red diamond. The kit was very popular with fans, and our new home strip celebrates the era. Here's hoping it inspires our current squad to emulate some of the success of the 92 team!

Alongside the kit launch, the Club will be hosting a number of Events to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Prague, including a gala dinner, and further details will become available shortly.
