East Fife match preview

27th April 2012

AIRDRIE expect keeper Grant Adam to play in tomorrow's promotion play-off showdown with East Fife.

The 21-year-old was stretchered off after suffering a blow to the head during Scotland under-21s' international match against Italy on Wednesday night at Easter Road.

On-loan Rangers goalie Adam wore a neck brace as a precaution while being taken off the field but Diamonds chief Jimmy Boyle believes he will be OK.

He said: "Grant sustained a cut to the head but it was a bad one. He will probably need a few stitches tomorrow [Friday] but there's no concussion and he will be fine."

But one player definitely out of the game is 28-goal top scorer Ryan Donnelly who begins a two-match suspension.

The 20-year-old was red-carded at Dumbarton last weekend for violent conduct and must sit out the remainder of the regular season. On the plus side, midfielder Sean Lynch returns from a ban.

Meanwhile, shopping giant ASDA are sponsoring a 'Kids Go Free' day at New Broomfield tomorrow.

All under-16s will be admitted to the East Fife game for nothing after the company, who wish to build a store on land near the stadium, stepped in.

Airdrie chairman Jim Ballantyne said: "I'd like to thank ASDA for their support. The timing couldn't be better as this Saturday's game is massive for both teams.

"It would be great to see as many fans as possible turn out for this one. The players have done very well in the past two months and deserve everyone's backing."
