Gala Fairydean match preview

18th November 2011

AIRDRIE welcome Gala Fairydean tomorrow in the third round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

The Diamonds will be looking to snap a five-game winless streak when they take on The Borderers at New Broomfield.

A place in the potentially lucrative fourth-round draw alongside the likes of Celtic and Rangers is at stake for the winners.

But manager Jimmy Boyle says he will not be taking anything for granted against a side who ply their trade in the East of Scotland League First Division.

He said: "It will not be easy and we will need to work hard to get a result.

"I'm delighted the match is at our place. I'm hoping we will be positive but also take on board what happened last Saturday and improve defensively."

Boyle feels his squad will kick-on once they regain their form and paid tribute to striker Ryan Donnelly who has scored 15 goals in 17 games.

"We're suffering from a lack of confidence," he added. "But once we go on a run of two or three wins, we will push on and move up the league table.

"Ryan knows where the goal is and he's working very hard, which I'm very pleased with. He is doing really well."

On the personnel front, Boyle will have defenders David Lilley and Paul Lovering free from suspension with midfielder Sean Lynch available following a groin injury.
