Manager's View - East Fife
16th August 2011
JIMMY BOYLE spoke of his disappointment after Airdrie slipped to a 2-0 defeat to East Fife on Saturday.
The Diamonds gaffer was at a loss to explain the reasons behind his side's display at New Bayview.
Boyle was hoping Airdrie could build on their excellent three-goal win over Dumbarton on the opening day of the Second Division campaign.
And he is looking for a positive reaction this weekend when Cowdenbeath visit New Broomfield.
The manager said: "I thought the result was a fair reflection of the game and I don't have any complaints.
"You've got to give credit to East Fife. They got in our faces, they were the hungrier side and I felt they deserved to win the game.
"I've no idea why we went out and turned in that sort of performance given the way we played last week against Dumbarton. It's majorly disappointing for us.
"We just didn't play and lost two carbon copy goals. We still had a chance going in 1-0 down at half-time. We had a spell when we did OK but we didn't play well enough or create enough.
"This is only the second game of the season but maybe that was the kick up the backside we needed.
"We've just got to pick ourselves up now and get ready for a really big game against Cowdenbeath at the weekend."
