Ayr United match preview

AIRDRIE are just 90 minutes away from a place in the SFL1 play-off final.

But a tough trip to Somerset Park lies ahead tomorrow for Jimmy Boyle and his players.

The Diamonds dominated Wednesday night's first leg at New Broomfield and created stacks of chances.

However, they could not find that elusive goal; and when they did find the back of the net, the effort was controversially ruled out.

On top of that, Airdrie had a penalty saved, hit the bar and then the post. Ayr were hanging on.

Diamonds defender Cameron MacDonald can't wait for the weekend showdown at the seaside and hopes fortune favours the brave.

He said: "It's disappointing not to have won the first leg but it was an entertaining game to play in and I think we showed we are a good team.

"We had so many good chances. I had three myself out there. We're frustrated not to have put a couple of them away.

"We feel we can get a result down there. It's only half-time in the tie. We've proved that we can win away from home at difficult places."

Airdrie welcome back winger Willie McLaren from a two-match suspension.
