Jamie Stevenson signs

4th August 2011

The Club are delighted to announce the signing of Jamie Stevenson for the forthcoming season.

Jamie, 27 was with Airdrie last season and manager Jimmy Boyle had kept in touch with him throughout the summer. Jimmy explained "Jamie was a key player for us last year but when the offer to have a trial at an SPL club came up he had to take it".

He continued "I thought that the opportunity had passed so we had to concentrate on our own squad and I allocated the remainder of the budget to bring in some much needed experience. Then the Jamie deal was back on but the resources were no longer available so I had to talk to the Chairman".

Jim confirmed "As a small Club, we have limited resources but it was a great opportunity for the Club so I was delighted when the Supporters Trust stepped in to help and they made a big contribution to allow us to make the move. There is no doubt that without the Supporters Trust input, we would not have been able to conclude a deal and on behalf of the Club and all supporters, I cannot thank the Trust enough"

Jamie, who had been maintaining his fitness by training with the Club, goes straight into the squad to face Dumbarton on Saturday.

He said: "I enjoyed my time with Airdrie last season. I had interest from elsewhere but I wanted to build on what we did last season. I'm grateful that everything has been sorted out. As players, you need everybody behind you and and I'm pleased that the fans are behind me and want to help take the club forward."
