Midfielder Murray joins on loan

January 31, 2020

We are pleased to announce the loan signing of Hibernian midfielder Innes Murray.

The 21-year-old has made one first-team appearance for the Hibees, and has also spent time on loan at Stenhousemuir where he scored twice in 19 appearances.

Innes told airdriefc.com: “I’m delighted to get the move sorted, and I’m excited to get started. It’s a massive game tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be involved!

“I’m a central midfielder who likes to get the ball down and play. I’ll bring energy and hopefully chip in with a few goals and assists.

“Personally it’s a great chance for me to get some competitive games under my belt, and obviously the team are in a great position in the league, so promotion has to be the aim.”

Diamonds boss Ian Murray said of his namesake: “We’re very happy with Innes joining us. We’ve watched him many times last season and this season, and we feel he’ll bring us extra quality in midfield.

“He’s a player who will take the ball and look to drive us forward.”

Director of Football Stuart Millar is happy with the club’s January business.

“We were never going to have a scattergun approach in this window, it was about consolidating the squad and we’re delighted to get Innes in along with Andy Ryan and Leon McCann.

“We’ve also strengthened in terms of extending the contracts of several important players, and putting a number of youngsters out on loan will see them gain experience which will only benefit the club in the future.

“We’d like to thank Hibernian FC and particularly Sporting Director Graeme Mathie for their help in making this move possible, and of course as always we thank the club’s sponsors and supporters who dig deep on a regular basis to allow us the budget for this activity.”
