O'Neil makes Diamonds return
January 26, 2018
We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Brechin City defender Chris O'Neil, who returns to New Broomfield until the end of the season.
Full-back Chris, who won Airdrie's Young Player of the Year award in 2013, joined the Glebe Park side at the beginning of last season after a four year spell with the Diamonds in which he made 77 first team appearances.
22-year-old Chris joined up with his "new" team-mates at training this week, and was pleased to see some familiar faces in the dressing room.
"It's good to come in and see a lot of the same boys that were here before!
"I'm just hoping to get games. It's been a bit of a nightmare recently not playing, but I was buzzing walking into the stadium - it feels great to be back."
First team coach Stephen Findlay signed O'Neil when he was in charge of the club's Under 19 squad, and he was happy to renew the relationship.
"What can I say, I'm delighted to get Chris. He's the sort of player you want in your team, he's one of those lads that gives his all for the jersey.
"He was great when I brought him here the first time, and we're pleased that we can now benefit from the extra experience that he's gained playing in the Championship.
"He'll bring enthusiasm and the fans will love him because of his workrate. I'm absolutely delighted to capture him."
Chris is unlikely to make the squad for tomorrow's match against Arbroath, but will be given every chance to prove his fitness. We look forward to seeing him sport the Diamond once again!
