Club statement

January 9, 2018

We are pleased to announce that the sale and transfer of M&H Logistics Glasgow Limited's controlling shareholding in Airdrieonians FC to The Airdrie Diamonds Limited was concluded on 09/01/18.

We thank Tom Wotherspoon, Colin McGowan and the Ballantyne family for ensuring that the transaction was successful and appreciate their time and effort. We would also like to thank all the club's fans and sponsors who have been kind enough to send messages of support and encouragement. When asked, we have clarified that our objectives from here are to stabilise the club in all departments and then advance.

The interim board of directors will be:

Ian McMillan President (non-executive)

Bobby Watson Chairman (non-executive)

Martin Ferguson Vice Chairman (non-executive)

Stuart Shields Director

Paul Hetherington Director

Scott Russell Director

William Marshall Director

Scott Hetherington Director

David McArthur Director

Walter Speirs Director (Chairman of community board)

Gavin Speirs Director

Douglas Allsop Head of Club and Stadium Commercial

The main board of directors will be split into sub-board/advisory committees with possible additional members being added to each group over the coming months. Our main intention behind this is to ensure that operational matters have specific focus and fluency. There will be four sub-boards with primary remits under the following headings:

Operational
Stuart Shields, Paul Hetherington, Scott Russell, Douglas Allsop, Scott Hetherington, Heather Allan

Football
Bobby Watson, Martin Ferguson, Ian McMillan, Stephen Findlay

Community
Walter Speirs, Douglas Allsop, Bob Reid, Willie Marshall, David McArthur, Colin Elliot

Youth
Gavin Speirs, Stephen Findlay, Gordon Thomson, Jason Little, Scott Black

The board has confirmed to Stephen Findlay that he has our full support as we all believe in his coaching abilities and vision for the club. We have provided him with a budget to strengthen the squad during January and confirmed that signings should have next season in mind. Stephen and Marc Fitzpatrick will be speaking at a fans Q&A over the coming weeks.

We intend to build solid foundations in all departments within the club; working as one with the stadium company. The integration of day-to-day management functions for both club and stadium has already begun and this will continue to evolve. The new board will be ensuring that the full potential of the stadium as a community asset is positively exploited with a view to growing the income sources of the club in a variety of ways. This will ultimately enable the product on the pitch to be the best possible representing our town.

We hope all fans of Airdrieonians Football Club get behind us and support all endeavours on and off the pitch from here on. Everyone involved at the club, whether they be supporters, playing staff, sponsors or Directors, share the same objective of shaping a club that the town of Airdrie can be proud of.
