Kieran and Robbo agree Diamond deals
May 8, 2018
Airdrie’s squad for the forthcoming season was further bolstered this evening as former Stranraer captain Scott Robertson and East Fife player of the year Kieran Millar agreed terms with the Diamonds.
The pair signed on at Excelsior Stadium tonight under the watchful eye of management team Stevie Findlay, Marc Fitzpatrick and David Proctor.
6’2” defender Robertson will add presence to the backline, joining the club on a two-year deal after a five year spell with Stranraer.
Previously turning out for Queen of the South, Stirling Albion, Partick Thistle and Arbroath, the
30-year-old told airdriefc.com: “Having spent five years at Stranraer I felt the time was right to move on to a new challenge.
“Airdrie are a bigger club than their league position shows - they were always a Championship team when I was younger, so hopefully we can get back to at least that level.
“That’s where a club this size should be.”
Millar (24) was an ever-present for East Fife last season, picking up the club’s player of the year award after a string of stand-out performances.
The box-to-box midfielder is looking forward to getting started with the Diamonds after penning a one-year deal.
“I’ll bring a lot of energy and a good workrate - I cover a lot of ground! I’d say I’m a team player more than anything.
“I’m sad to be leaving East Fife, they’re a really well run club with a lot of good people, but this was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
Boss Stevie Findlay was thrilled with the additions to his squad.
“It’s another two pieces of the jigsaw that we’ve been planning for a while now.
“Big Robbo is the sort of lad you want, not just on the park but in the changing room as well. I was a big fan of his at Queen of the South and Stranraer. He’s got a great attitude and a desire to succeed.
“Kieran had other suitors and we’re delighted to get him. He’s another one who’s really bought into what we’re trying to do here, and he’ll be a player who will excite the fans.”
