Airdrieonians vs Ayr United preview

26th February 2016

Jacob Esposito is loving life in Scotland, and the Aussie speed merchant believes Airdrie can beat Ayr United on Saturday.

Esposito has made two substitute appearances for the Diamonds since signing in January after a move to Livingston broke down, and the enthusiastic 22-year-old is grateful for the chance to shine.

"My time at Airdrie has been great so far, the Club have been so welcoming.

"I'm learning a lot, and that's always a positive as a footballer. I'm glad the coaching staff believe in my ability.

"I'm a very driven and determined person - I'm passionate and I love to win. I love to get forward and use my speed, and I'll never give anything less than my best."

Having lost both previous meetings with Ayr United this season, Eddie Wolecki Black's men will certainly have to be at their best this weekend when the Honest Men visit New Broomfield.

Esposito thinks that self-belief can go a long way.

"We go into every game believing we can win. We have a great squad and coaching staff and we'll be looking for all three points - especially playing at home."

With the third quarter of the league season nearing a finish - not to mention the announcement of full-time football next season - Airdrie's players can certainly have a lot to look forward to.

Jacob is more concerned with the task in hand.

"Scotland is a beautiful country and I'm loving my time here - but at the moment I'm just concentrating on playing and training my best, and we'll see where that leads".

The Diamonds add new signing Jordan Thompson, who has joined the club on an initial 28-day loan deal from Rangers. David Cox remains sidelined through suspension.

Ayr continue to monitor the progress of Jamie Adams and ex-Diamond Ross Docherty following injuries to the midfield pair.

Referee Mike Roncone makes his second visit to New Broomfield this season, having been in charge of the December clash with Stenhousemuir. He also refereed Airdrie's September win at Cliftonhill, and the League Cup trip to Stirling Albion in August.
