Prunts and Jimmy honoured against the Eddies
11th March 2016
Airdrieonians FC will honour fans’ favourites Bryan Prunty and Jimmy Lister in Tuesday night’s intriguing friendly with Canadian NASL side FC Edmonton at the Excelsior (kick-off 7.45pm).
Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black wants the strike partners’ huge contribution to the Club recognised in the match and Prunts and Jimmy will have their kids as mascots and their families as special guests on the night.
Tuesday’s clash will be pay at the gate and admission is £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.
We hope to see all of the Diamonds family roll up with the added chance of seeing some of our up and coming Academy talent being blooded in the top team.
First team coach Donald Jennow said: “Before Eddie’s illness we had spoken of how we could use this game to honour two legends of the Club and showcase those in the talented Under-20s side who had earned some first team minutes.
“The NASL is a rising league with a lot of investment in clubs like the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and New York Cosmos and FC Edmonton will be a big challenge but it’s one all the boys are looking forward to.”
FC Edmonton - bossed by former Rangers and Hamilton Accies defender Colin Miller - are in Britain for a four match tour that will see them face Partick Thistle, Airdrieonians, Queen’s Park and Newcastle United’s U-21 squad.
And Eddies boss Colin said: “Our players will have to adjust to the culture, the pace of the game and the intensity of the opposition.
“It’s just a Scottish cultural thing where the game is generally played at 100-miles-per-hour and our guys will have to be up for it. The scores are very important to us of course, but they are not the be-all-end-all.
“It is also important to us that our guys are getting 45 minutes of play in that Partick Thistle game, getting through that fitness element without any injuries.”
