East Fife v Airdrieonians preview

27th September 2013

Scott Gallacher has vowed to do all he can to help Airdrieonians climb up the SPFL League One table.

The on-loan Rangers keeper will remain at New Broomfield until the end of the year and played for the Diamonds in the win over Stranraer and defeat to Dunfermline Athletic.

Gallacher, 24, kept four clean sheets in six games for his parent club before manager Ally McCoist selected summer signing Cammy Bell between the sticks.

Playing regular first-team football is Gallacher's aim for the campaign and he's determined to impress in his spell with Airdrie, who travel to rock-bottom East Fife on Saturday.

"I need to be playing games from a personal point of view," he said. "And my focus is on doing well and trying my best at this club.

"I was pleased with how I started the season. I started six games and kept four clean sheets which was a big boost to my confidence.

"There is a certain standard to be reached at Rangers but I'll be looking to keep my standards high no matter what club I'm playing for.

"Playing regular first-team football is my priority, especially this season. I will do whatever I can to help Airdrie while I'm here."

The Diamonds go to Methil looking for their first away win of the season and intent on closing the five-point gap to the promotion play-off zone.

But the Fifers' need for points is just as pressing. Willie Aitchison's men have lost five of their opening six league games and are a point adrift at the bottom of the standings.

Airdrie boss Jimmy Boyle will assess the fitness of defender Chris O'Neil and striker Jim Lister before naming his team.

Liam Coogans, the club's 16-year-old striker, scored his first goal of the season in the 2-1 reverse at Dunfermline and is likely to again feature in the matchday squad.
