Dunfermline Athletic v Airdrieonians preview

17th January 2014

Once. Twice. Three times a Diamond.

Keeper Grant Adam checked back into New Broomfield this week for a third spell after agreeing a deal with Airdrieonians to the end of the season.

The 22-year-old put pen to paper after leaving Championship part-timers Cowdenbeath and will make his 'debut' against Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park on Saturday.

Adam will become the seventh keeper to don the No 1 jersey this term and follow in the footsteps of Colin Stewart, Scott Gallacher, Andrew Duncan, Tony Bullock, Danny Rogers and Johnny Grier.

He would love to be part of a winning side and help the Diamonds to their first away victory of the campaign this weekend after revealing that he's thrilled to have returned to the club.

"It's an unbelievable feeling to be back," Adam commented. "The opportunity was there for me to come back. This is a club that means something to me.

"People like Jim and Ann Marie Ballantyne have done a lot for me and my family and I thought I owed the club.

"My message to the fans is that I'm delighted to be back and I can assure them that I will be doing my very best to make sure we stay up.

"A win over Dunfermline would be a massive boost for our confidence and give everyone in the squad a lift.

"It's a great place to play and we won there twice last year. Football is all about winning matches and we need to focus on that in the second half of the season."

Airdrie will climb off the bottom of League One this weekend if a win in Fife is coupled with an Arbroath defeat at home to Stenhousemuir.

Manager Gary Bollan is still without the injured Chris O'Neil and Grant Drummond. The fitness of Grant Evans and John Boyle will continue to be monitored.

Ricki Lamie has returned from a loan spell at League Two Queen's Park, and may return to the squad in place of the suspended Mick O'Byrne.
