Airdrie were humbled in the Lanarkshire derby with Hamilton scoring four goals in 22 minutes at New Broomfield on Saturday.

Boss Jimmy Boyle made five changes to the team which lost 3-2 to Morton last weekend.
Injury ruled out Cameron MacDonald, Sean Lynch and John Boyle. Suspension kept David Lilley on the sidelines with Willie McLaren dropping to the bench.

Marc Warren, Gregor Buchanan, Jamie Barclay, Jack Boyle and Alan Cook were all drafted into the starting line-up.

Accies were without a league win as they arrived at New Broomfield and fielded Jonathan Page, on-loan from Motherwell, and St Johnstone loanee Stevie May in their side.

It was Hamilton who enjoyed the better of the first half as they fashioned a number of decent goalscoring opportunities.

Louis Longridge forced keeper Kenny Arthur into a good save in the 21st minute with May's blasting the rebound over the bar.

Two minutes later, Longridge's low effort took a wicked deflection with Arthur stretching out to turn the ball past his left-hand post.

Accies should have scored right on the interval but Page, despite having a free header, directed Ali Crawford's corner off-target.

Billy Reid's men eventually took the lead in the 66th minute when Crawford turned home a low cross from May.

A powerful header by Longridge, from Gary Fraser's cross, doubled Accies' lead with May dispossessing Grant Evans to make it 3-0.

Hamilton sealed a comfortable victory from the penalty spot when May converted after being fouled by Michael Hart.
